EXPLORE THE ARCTIC—PAST, PRESENT,
AND FUTURE

The Royal Norwegian Embassy in Seoul will present an exhibition entitled Explore the Arctic—Past, Present, and Future. People have lived in the Arctic—a region rich in resources such as energy, minerals, and food—for thousands of years. Shipping in the Arctic is increasing and new trading routes are being explored. With eye-catching pictures, posters, maps, and more, the exhibition covers issues the High North faces today such as scientific cooperation, freight vessels and maritime routes, ecosystems and the environment, natural resources, and the daily lives of its people. It also looks into arctic research efforts, from the accomplishments of Fridtjof Nansen, Roald Amundsen, and other past explorers to modern studies conducted with the latest technology. The exhibition also introduces the beautiful and majestic natural landscapes and fascinating wildlife of the Arctic, which is often perceived as a desolate sheet of ice.
