KYOHONGI’S SKETCH OF A KOREAN LANGUAGE CLASS

Education and Promotion Team (EPT): Did you make your sketch of a Korean Language Class?
Kyohongi: Yeah, I visited a Korean Language Class on June 19, at 7 p.m. I headed toward the Beginner’s 3-A class. Despite my sudden appearance, all the students remained focused on their studies of Korean. They were learning how to apply Korean suffixes to form exclamations, explanations, and adjectives.
EPT: How was the teacher’s classroom instruction?
Kyohongi: Since it was a grammar lesson, I expected it to be stiff and boring. Contrary to my expectations, however, from start to the finish, the lesson was lively and dynamic. There was even a time for students to pair off and practice conversing with each other. What stood out to me was how the assistant instructor would help out any students that couldn’t quite keep up.

EPT: Perhaps this is an explanation for the program’s increasing popularity! Anything else worth sharing?
Kyohongi: There was this student from Hong Kong who sat next to me. She smiled at me shyly and said: “There are other students from the same place as me, so I hope we can become friends.”

EPT: So the Korean Language Classes are both a chance to learn and to meet new people. Thanks for sharing your experiences with us. We’ll see you next time!
