MEETING THE WORLD IN KOREA: EIGHT COUNTRIES IN ONE DAY

On April 25, the KF’s Meeting the World in Korea program conducted a special session for 28 elementary school students who were given an opportunity to experience the cultures of eight different nations. Volunteers from Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Taiwan, Sweden, Spain, Jamaica, Nigeria, and Senegal offered their services as culture instructors. After forming groups of three, the students were introduced to all eight countries, and then sampled each nation’s traditional food and culture. Ismaila Dione, the instructor from Senegal, remarked, “I was really surprised at how responsive the kids were to the Senegalese language lessons. It was such a meaningful experience to be able to share my home country with people in Korea. Thank you to everyone of the Planning and Event Team for making this possible.”
