Discovering the Future of Vietnam's Farming
Communities through the Saemaul Undong
Movement

In 2014, the KF invited 15 top-level officials from the Communist Party of Vietnam's Ministry of Foreign Affairs to visit Korea from November 30 to December 6. The first official invitation offered to the party after Korea-Vietnam relations were established, the visit solidified the agreements of the Korea-Vietnam Summit of September 2013, hoping to boost future exchange among senior-level national security officials . The delegation met with Lee Kyung-soo, Deputy Minister for Political Affairs, and other officials, with whom they toured institutions such as Korea's National Assembly, the Korea Stock Exchange, Korea National Diplomatic Academy, and Yeungnam University. “The Spirit of self-sufficiency in Korea’s Saemaul Movement is the answer to bridge the rural-urban divide in Vietnam,” said Tran Dac Loi, the delegation leader, after a lecture about Korea’s Saemaul Movement at Yeungnam University. "It presents the key to the future of Vietnam's agricultural regions," he continued, expressing an interest in cooperation.
