DMZ 투어

DMZ Tour

For our September event, we visited the demilitarized zone, or DMZ, along with participants from several countries who have been attending the lecture series on modern Korean history. The group inspected the No. 3 Tunnel, which is so cramped and has such a low clearance that you have to crouch down to get inside. Next, we toured the Dora Observatory, which provides the closest view of North Korea across the DMZ. From the observatory, we were able to glimpse the Kaesong Industrial Complex, a statue of Kim Il-sung, and a North Korean flag. As we relaxed amid the tranquility and lush greenery around the Dora Observatory, which is not open to the public, we gazed for a long time at North Korea’s territory. The group also visited Dorasan Station, where we envisioned the day when Korea is reunified and we could board a train here bound for Pyongyang. It was a meaningful day that enabled us to truly understand the tragic history of the Korean Peninsula.
