On June 30, the Korea Foundation held a Japanese edition of the KF Policy Networking Program at Keio University in Tokyo, co-organized with the Center for Contemporary Korea Studies at Keio University (Yosihide Soeya, director). Twelve experts on Korea-Japan foreign policy took part in the gathering. The Foundation initiated the KF Policy Networking Program to raise global awareness about the key aspects of Korea’s foreign policy, such as the “unification bonanza” concept and initiatives for peace and cooperation in Northeast Asia, in an effort to broaden support for the foreign diplomacy priorities of Korea and to bolster cooperation with the international community. This conference was also planned as part of a new program to build a network of individuals who are knowledgeable about Korea and expand a support base for foreign policy by creating a venue to publicize Korea’s foreign policy and unification efforts among policymakers in Japan. Presentations and discussions took place at the program’s two sessions, which were titled “Korea’s Unification Initiative” and “Korea-Japan Relations and Northeast Asia Peace and Cooperation Initiatives.” Some 70 representatives of Japan’s research institutions, universities, foreign ministry, think tanks, and media organizations were also in attendance.
