Costa Rican President Laura Chinchilla delivers congratulatory remarks at the ceremony signing an MOU between the Korea Foundation and the University of Costa Rica, held at the KF Cultural Center on August 21. The MOU signing between the Foundation and the University of Costa Rica coincided with the state visit to Korea of Costa Rican President Laura Chinchilla on August 19-21. In accordance with the MOU, the Korea Foundation will support the opening of Korean language and culture courses at the University of Costa Rica toward the purpose of fostering next-generation leaders who possess an understanding of the importance of Korean-Costa Rican cooperative relations. The University of Costa Rica is the oldest and most prestigious institution for higher learning in the Central American country.

Notable guests in the signing ceremony, presided over by the broadcaster and KF ambassador for cultural sharing Abigail, included President Chinchilla, Foreign Minister Enrique Castillo, and Ambassador to Korea Manuel Lopez, as well as Korean Ambassador to Costa Rica Chun Hong-jo.
